Registration of Civil Acts

 


Marriage

  • Required Documents

    1. Fill out a Marriage Notification Form (Word file, PDF file).

    2. An original international marriage certificate including English, Arabic and/or French. The international marriage certificate has to be authenticated by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    3. Husband/ wife ID card.

    4. Two copies of each original document provided.
       

  • Fees

    1. If the marrige contract entails a specified dowry (mahr), an additional fee of 0.2% of the value of the dowry is charged upon registration of the marrige certificate:

      • If the dowry consists of precious metals (gold, silver, etc...), an official bank appraisal of the material must be obtained; the Embassy then charges 0.2% of the estimate shown on the bank certificate

      • If the dowry consists of real estate, a RECENT official appraisal of the land/property must be obtained from a sworn real estate expert appraiser; the Embassy then charges 0.2% of the estimated real estate value as shown on the official appraisal (Minimum fee:€22, and a Maximum fee:€1099).

    2. If the marriage contract does not specify a dowry (mahr), a standard fee equivalent to €22 is then charged.
       

  • Processing Time
    Five working days.


Divorce

  • Required Documents

    1. Fill out a Divorce Notification Form (Word file, PDF file)

    2. An original Marriage certificate.

    3. An original Divorce certificate.

    4. Husband/ wife ID card.

    5. Two copies of each original document provided.

    6. In order to finalize the divorce with the Lebanese authorities:

      1. Appoint a lawyer or a representative in Lebanon.

      2. Provide the Lebanese Ministry if Foreign Affairs with the name, address, and telephone number of your lawyer/ representative in Lebanon.

      3. Include a copy of the aforementioned special power of attorney with the divorce application.

    No fee is charged.
     

  • Processing Time
    Five working days.


Birth

  • Required Documents

    1. Fill out a Birth Notification Form (Word file, PDF file).

    2. An original Birth certificate, authenticated (legalized) by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    3. Husband/ wife Lebanese ID card.

    4. Lebanese Marriage Certificate.

    5. In case the wife is not a Lebanese citizen, then an original ID is requested.

    6. Two copies of each original document provided.
       

  • Note: The registration of the marriage certificate has to take place prior to the registration of the birth of the children.

    No fee is charged.
     

  • Processing Time
    Five working days.


Death

  • Required Documents

    1. Fill out a Death Notification Form (Word file, PDF file).

    2. An original Death certificate.

    3. The original passport of the deceased for cancellation. (The original passport will then be returned back)

    4. Two copies of each original document provided.


Citizenship Based on Marriage

Only the wife can acquire the Lebanese nationality of her husband.

  • Required Documents

    1. A  recent family civil registry record (Ikhraj Qayd) stating the wife's name under the husband's registry.

    2. Notarized petition including spousal approval from the wife requesting Lebanese Citizenship.

    3. Proof of cohabitation.

    4. Two copies of the Wife's Birth certificate.

    5. Two copies of the wife's passport showing a change in the last name.

    6. Two copies of the Lebanese passport of the husband

    7. Two copies of each original document provided.
       

  • Fees
    Standard Fees €22
